First Premium, on the inside and shuHed to the rear, began closing up rapidly ou the far turn, ran around on the outside and made good with a sensational stretch sprint. Old Faithful, also unlucky in tile early running, closed up like a flash ou the far turn and got into a fast going second at the end. Ballotta ran around on the outside on the turn into the lead and gamely stood a. hard closing drive to save third place. Water Tank held a good iosition well throughout. Watergrass, interfered witli at the start, showed line speed in the middle running. Hooray is improving and ran forwardly to the stretch, where he tired. Lady Anne failed to stay after going a fast half. East End showed high-class early speed. Tiptoe, from a flying start, made the running with a safe lead throughout. Monet, also favored at the starj, was always In nearest pursuit of the winner and saved a lucky second place when tiring badly. Bohemian, cway badly and on the inside and pocketed in the early running, finally went to the extreme outside, losing a half dozen lengths, then finished with a sudden and remarkable end rush and probably was best. Telephone ran forwardly and gamely from the start and finished close up. Ironsides went wide and delayed his final move too long, was finally surrounded in the last sixteentli and shut off and will do to watch. Graziallo ran prominently for a half and then retired as if short. Champlaln disnlayed early speed. Frank Lord beat the barrier and won all the way after shutting off Mexican Silver at the half. Gold Lady, beginning slowly and poorly ridden, finished with a belated rush, running an extra good wee. Mexican Silver, away badly, moved up fast on the inside and was shut off and maintained thereafter close and persistent, but unavailing, pursuit of the leader. Jobstown, nearly left, made up considerable ground in the last quarter. Master Lester, fiom a flying start, held ou for a quarter of a mile and then retired, running a very bad race. Yama Christy maintained close and persistent pursuit of the pacemaker until beginning the last half, where lie took the lead simultaneously with Tom Cogans move and. after losing ground at the last jump, finally got up to win in the last stride. Tom Cogan, poorly handled, was best, but badly messed about and had tlie race as good as won in the last furlong, where he lost out through a weak finish. Follow On kept well up all the way and finished well. Callei- made the runniug and tired as if short, but pulled up well and cau beat this kind. Flying Virginian had no mishaps and simply quit afte- going half the joumev. Fountainblue jumped into the lead at the start and won all the way never serlouslv menaced and never luliy extended. Royal Breeze, a steadily improving colt, was always well up and forged into an easy second in the closing quarter. Pierrot tired right at the end of a hot pursuit of the leaders. Smiling Tern came from the rear when straightened for home, finished fast and was unlucky to have lost third place. Little Minister got away poorly, made up considerable ground and is a very good looker. Oiialus, very fit, was given a lucky start and reserved in forward contention throughout and made good without trouble In the last quarter. Sir Caruthers, from a striding start, practically forced the pace tor , seven furlongs and stood an unexpectedly game closing drive to save second place. Far West was crowded on the first turn and nearly fell, recovered quickly and maintained a lucky position under a pull to the stretch, where he was seemingly pocketed and unable to get clear sailing, came fast when too late and might have won but for the mishaps. Ancestor, away badly, closed an Immense gap and ran a cracking race. Adbell had a flying start and was in keen contention for six furlongs, but again failed to stay. R. F. Willipnis, a slew beginner and shuffled to the rear on the first turn, closed up sta-idiiy in close quarters, but had really no chance, Druid, Charlatan and John Lyle ran bad races.
