Hall Are at Outs and Show It in Races. : Cincinnati, 0., July 14. An attractive card, Including a handicap at one mile and a race over the same distance for gentlemen riders, attracted a large attendance to Latonla this afternoon, though the weather was threatening. Twenty-one bookmakers were in line and they were- kept busy. The handicap had no withdrawals and resulted in a rattling good contest. Among the betting people the view was held that it wasasklng a good deal of Alma Dufour to pick up 123 pounds and concede much -weight to other speedy ones, and as a consequence the speculation was open. Cottontown Is much more than a useful three-year-old, as he has shown on previous occasions here. With 110 pounds up, by the scale he was meeting Alma Dufour on practically even terms. That he shouldered his impost and won as easily as he did and In fast time was a very creditable performance. The Gentlemens Cup brought about an interesting contest with no untoward Incident to mar the running. Arachne, which ran second to Swiftwing -in the Gentlemens Cup at Louisville, was ridden by Mr. Arnold and he led all the way and won easily. Bitter animosity exists between jockeys Nicol and D. Hall. They repeatedly fight each other In races and their action in the fifth race, when the pair indulged in a roughing match while riding Old Honesty and Lens, respectively, was most glaring.
