DADES STARTING IS, COMMENDABLE. . The New York racing folks like starter Dades work and the metropolitan papers arc praising it without stint. The Sun gives a sample opinion, this way: "The starting of A.- B. Dade at Brighton Beach Thursday was well nigh perfect. The horses In each event were; sent away In perfect alignment from a flatfooted break and the crowd manifested Intense satisfaction with the new mans work. Dade has practically demonstrated the; wisdom of the Jockey Club In sticking to the standing start, in spite of a clamor In some quarters for the walk up system, as advocated by Mars Cassidy. II. K. Knapp, who !s in the stand at. the Beach, represent-lng the Jockey Club, was chiefly responsible for the abolition of the old recall iflag and the institution of the flatfooted break, with a1 barrier. Mr. Knapp has all along been a strong advocate of the standing start and it is with much satisfaction, no doubt, that he now sees the plan so successfully operated by Dade." . . .
