Chandler, quickly In his stride, rushed into a winning lead in the first furlong, set the pace all Hie way and outgamed Fire Alarm in the final drive. Fire Alarm had a rough" trip for the first three furlongs and was in a pocket to the stretch turn, where he slipped through on the Inside and finished fast. Ozanne was forced to work his way up on the outside, finished gamely under a drive and outstayed Vacharis. Hagan was not strong enough to do the latter justice In the final drive. Galetta was saved until rounding the turn into the homestretch, then moved up with a rush wliea called on and, taking a winning- lead when straightened out for the final run, was well in hand at the finish. Cantr6me raced in a forward position all the way and saved ground on the turn out of the backstreteh. Merilene, outrun for the first half, finished with a rush next to the inside rail and outlasted Lena Jones iu the final drive. The latter was speedy, but was used un in setting the pace. Hazel .Patch began slowly and was in a pocket on the backstretch, but closed up with a rush in the run through the stretch, wore Renraw down In the last sixteenth and took second place in the last few strides. Renraw rail In behind the leader all the way and moved up on the turn into the stretch, but tired under punishment. Edwin T. Fryer closed a big gap and finished resolutely under punishment. Wisliard attempted to go through on the inside with Factotum on the first turn and was cut off and crowded back, then pulled to the outside, but could never get up. Rhinock finished with a rush after making a wide turn into the stretch. Bisque and Paul Deerlng were caught In a jam at the start. Overweights Factotum, lj pounds; Paul Peering, 41.
