PINKERT0NS STRETCH CANVAS. Saratoga, N. Y., August 10. The poolroom man on his perch outside of the track had the long climb largely In vain this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon the Iinkertons stretched a broad width of canvas between two tall poles erected alongside the mile chute. The canvas effectually shut out the view of the lone occupant of the pole. Last night it was taken down, but just before the first race today and after one of the poolroom men ascended the crows nest on the outside, the sheet was run up. The breeze slightly favored the outsider, however, and once iu a while the canvas was lifted and twisted until It failed of its purpose.
