HORSEMEN RUN A FOOT RACE. Saratoga, N. Y., August 10. J. C. Coolcy won a foot race this morning over the Horse Haven mile from Cortland Smith, the well-known gentleman rider, of Baltimore, in the presence of the entire racetrack population, including every jockey, trainer and horseman of note. There was some heavy betting on the result. John Madden, who was himself formerly a foot racer of renown, won a wager of ,0OO over Mr. Cooley, who beat his opponent by nearly a furlong.
