CHARLIE EASTMANS FAST SIX FURLONGS. Equals Diamonds Canadian Record of 1:11 4-5 Jockey Washington Gets a Warning Gossip. Buffalo, N. Y., August 10. The feature of the days racing at Fort Erie was the handicap for all ages at three-quarters of a mile in which Charlie Eastman distinguished himself. He and Tickle were made the choices and they received heavy support. Charlie Eastman, quickest to get in motion, immediately rushed to the front and made every post a winning one, running the three-quarters in 1:112, lowering the track record by three-fifths of a second and equaling the Canadian record made by Diamond at Toronto last fall. Charlie Eastmans race was a remarkable one. He was giving away weight to everything in the race. Hannibal Bey ran a good, game race and was a keen contender all the way. Only two favorites won, but the majority of the other races were captured by heavily supported second choices. Jockey Hogg carried off the riding lienors, piloting Highland Fling, backed from 15 to C in the fourth, and Oratorlan in the sixth. Secretary Fraser, of the Ontario Jockey Club was a visitor at the track this afternoon receiving entries for the stakes to be run at Woodbine this fall. Horsemen were liberal In their nominations, entering freely In all of the fixed events. Mr. Fraser announced that the steeplechase course would be in much better shape this fall than It was last spring. Amos Turney lias arranged to ship his stable to Saratoga on Sunday. J. W. Pangle sends the two-year-old filly Work-maid and a brother to The Clown to New York next week. The remainder of his string goes to Toronto. Washington, who had the mount on Sartor Resar-tus in the steeplechase, permitted his horse to re-peatedly foul Cardigan and was cautioned by the judges that a repetition of the offense would lead to the revocation of his license.
