PINKERT0NS BLOCK ANOTHER SCHEME. Saratoga, N. Y., August 24. The Pinkerton men are congratulating themselves on having nipped another bright scheme of the poolroom men In the bud. The telescope which was mounted on the observation pole outside of the track was closely watched, and It was found that instead of being turned toward the track It was pointed In the opposite direction. It was also found that placards bearing the numbers of the winners were being displayed from the pole after each race. Putting two and two together, they concluded that the news was being telephoned from some distant house, and by tracing the line of sight of the telescope they found a house over a mile distant equipped with a similar telescope, by which the numbers displayed on the pole were being read. By permission of the telephone people the wires leading Into this house wore cut, and in consequence no Information of importance got to the rooms today.
