TORONTO STAKES FILL WELL. Toronto, Ont., August 24. The entries to the stakes to be run at the coming autumn meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club have filled excellently, affording splendid proof of the popularity of the Toronto fixtures and appreciation on behalf of owners of the liberality of the program. Capital sport is in store for lovers of racing at Woodbine Park on Saturday, September 15, and the sir succeeding week days. Among the owners who have not recently raced at Toronto, the names of Messrs. George Hen-drie and E. Corrigan will be found, both liberal subscribers. Alex Shields has entered Ormondes Right and Stimulant in the stakes for three-year-olds and upward, and E. R. Thomas has put Lieber in the Toronto. Autumn Cup and Ontario Jockey Club Cup. Canadian owned horses are increasing and loom up well In the different events. Horses will be here from Saratoga and also the best of those1 now racing on the Canadian circuit. The program of the meeting, which will contain the entries of these stakes, will be issued within the next three or four days. The Toronto Autumn Cup handicap, received thirty nominations; the Durham Cup, seven; Michaelmas Handicap, forty-seven; Pheasant Plate, thirty-three; tbe Grey stakes, thirty-two and the Ontario Jockey Club Cup handicap, thirty-four.
