Tiptoe was sent along from the start and quickly assumed command, sat a terrific pace throughout and eventually won out in a hard drive. Sir Lynnewood broke slowly, but quickly improved his position and challenged gamely in the last quarter, but could never quite get up. Sir Russell was in forward contention throughout, but lost ground at a critical moment on the last turn by going very wide, then finished with a belated end rush, but swerving badly to the inside. Inquisitor was reserved in. the early running and finally compelled to go up on the inside in deep going and, after looming up well midway of the stretch, tired in the closing strides. Peter Sterling was outpaced for the first half, but finished Ilka the wind, would have won at a mile and is a grand horse. Aeronaut showed his usual brilliant early speed, but failed to stay, for which the cuppy going was probably responsible. Martin Doyle can do better. Sonoma Belle broke well and held a good position around the first turn, rapidly mowed down those In front of her on the backstretch and, drawing out with a rush in the stretch, won with plenty in reserve. Corrlgnn, favored at the start, was reserved in a lucky iiosltion to the far turn, where he commenced to gain rapidly, winding up a fast going second. Water Dog made the running for nearly a mile and held on unexpectedly well in the closing strides. Macy Jr., on the inside in deep going, was repeatedly shut o5 and. finished with his rider sitting still. Ocean Spray was handicapped by the going and knocked b;ick at the fcalf, but finished close up in an extra game effort. Charlatan ran forwardly for seven furlongs and tired as if short, can do much better with blinkers and will do to watch. Ebony, after trailing far In the rear, finished running fast and close up. Montgomery broke in the lead and raced alongside the pacemaker for half the journey, then forged to the front anil, coming on, won off cantering and ran like a crackerjack. Old Honesty was in forward contention from the start and going resolutely at the end and like a rater. Blondy, away slowly anil hampered in the early running, finished with a whirlwind stretch sprint. Smiling Tom, shuffled back at the start, ran up rapidly into a good position, but was pocketed on the last turn and came fast at the end, as usual. Hickory, away poorly in deep going on the inside and outpaced for the first half, finished well and close up and is promising. Jery Lady set the pace to the far turn and succumbed as if short, or handicapped by the going. Lucy Marie got away badly. f O d FOURTH RACE 3-4 Mile. l:123112. Ben Ban received a good start and maintained a position within striking distance of the leaders in the early running, finished with a rush on the Inside and got up to win going away iu the last fifty yards. Edna Jackson broke slowly and overhauled the flying pacemaker gradually, went very wide on the turn and got in front when beginning the last sixteenth, but tired and lost out under a poor ride. James Reddick,- particularly favored by the deep going, kept unexpectedly well up from the start and finished a game third. Pytlila Imat the barrier and made the running by a wide gap to the stretch, where she commenced to tire. Disobedient, inadequately handled, got away very badly and, after weaving in and out liehlnd the others, finally came with n belated rush on the extreme outside and should have won, but was given a very bad ride. Eudora, from a flying start, was in close pursuit of the pacemaker to the last turn, where she got into the lead and won drawing away. Glamor, shut off at the start and knocked back to last, closed an Immense gap while running on the extreme outside to the stretch, where she came through like a shot om the Inside in bad going and was beetJ Dainty Dame ran forwardly from the start and finished well, gamely earning third place in the last stride. Dulcinea showed speed, but tired badly in the stretcli drive. Neoskaleeta kept up moderately! well throughout and can probably do much better. Alila showed brilliant early speed, but failed to stay and was palpably short. Mlntberia was badly messed about anil can do much better. Royal Scot Is improving, forced the pace o the half, where he drew out and was never afterwards headed, went very wide on the last turn, but had plenty left to win with. Fatlnitza steadily improved her position on the extreme outIda and earned a fast going second. Johnstown ran sluggishly throughout, loomed up momentarily on the inside when beginning the last furlong, but unexpectedly tired right at the end of a bad race, which might be due to the stiff going. At Dawn showed line speed for five furlongs and was palpably short, will be heard from and is reported to have done fast work. Flyleaf was never dangerous, can do much better and iias worked fast private trials. Mount Henry showed early speed and is improving with each race.
