The United States Hotel Stakes started iu turf history as a mile and a half stake race for three-year-olds and as such fell to such graud racers as Luke Blackburu, Hindoo, Drake Carter, Inspector B., Hanover and Siualoa II., was then reduced in distance and finally discontinued, but was revived when the Whitney regime came into power at Saratoga and made a 0,000 guaranteed stake for two-year-olds.
