Waterford maintained a good forward position all the way, was momentarily displaced from second position, but came again at the end and earned it gamely. Commandant was poorly ridden, made a costly blunder at the Liverpool while going the last time around and could never get up after a remarkable effort and might have won but for the accident. Momentum beat the barrier and won all the way by a safe margin, was only cantering at the end and likes this track. Monfort, away very badly and boring out on the turns, finished with a belated whirlwind rush and ran a grand race. Royal Breeze, from a .good start, ran in strenuous pursuit of the leader and tired unexpectedly at the end. Fish Hawk showed early speed, but was tiring in the stretch. Yorkist showed his usual speed and quit. Frank Lord got away badly and was carried hopelessly wide on the turns. Teinaceo ran a grand race at the weights, was hemmed in for five furlongs and finished close up. Master Lester had no chance at the start. Won driving; second and third the same. Cottontown is in wonderful form and, under a pull, was in close attendance on the pacemaker and wore her down at the end of a tremendous stretch drive. Running Water made the running in hand from tho start, but succumbed to the winner in a game final struggle. Tangle, away poorly, trailed and was impeded frequently while in the rear, closed up on the inside at the half and finished with a belated closing sprint, going fastest of all. Go Between held an unexpectedly forward position in the early running and was within striking distance at the end of a mile, but succumed in the last quarter, although finishing resolutely. Dishabille fell back to last and was unable to hold her position for the first mile, was going moderarely well at the end, however, and is training off steadily. First Mason quit early as if short. Leonard Joe Hayman jumped into the lead at the start and won all the way in convincing fashion, shook off King Cole early and James Reddick in the stretch and won with plenty in reserve. James IleddicU showed sudden imnrovement and likes this soft track, ran forwardly from the start and momentarily appeared like passing the leader in the last quarter, but tired finally. Macy Jr., after trailing far back for the first six furlongs, closed up suddenly at the end and put up an extra good effort. Red Knight was prominent for six furlongs and will make good in mud. Huntington made up a lot of ground too late 1 and wants a long race. King Cole showed brilliant speed for six furlongs, was probably short, but looks very good and can do much better.
