Petulant showed the most early speed, set a fast paee and tired a triie in tlie closing strides. Maxton was a forward contender at all stages and finished gamely under punishment. Rililoba, slmllied back at the start, was compelled to go to the extreme outside, worked his way to tlie leaders on the turn for home, raced Principia Into defeat and won in a hard drive, but going away. Principia sprinted to the front at the start and set a fast pace, but was tiring fast at the end. Jetsam was a forward contender at all stages, but could never improve bis position. Halbard was a prominent contender all the way, but tired from chasing the winner and just lasted long enough to save third place from Reside. The latter finished fast. The Englishman was prominent to tlie stretch, lint quit when the real racing came. Tlie winner wasT entered for .700; no bid. The latter ran in forward contention all the way and finished gamely. Ilamilcar showed speed, but tired from chasing the winner. Denigre and Pentagon got into a jam at the start and Dcnigre went to his knees and closed a big gap in the run from the half-mile post home, but tired in the closing strides.
