GOOD OLD TIMER JOHN HUGGINS. John Huggins. trainer for H. B. Duryea, Is living quietly at Sheepshead Hay. Huggins is one of the old-time trainers and has been successful on both sides of the water. He is a thorough horseman and studies his charges peculiar likes and dislikes. He was the first trainer to introduce the custom of putting ponies, goats and dogs in the stables of nervous horses. Nowadays It is the usual thing to sec a champion thoroughbred accompanied by a pony in his warming up gallops and he is the constant companion of the star around the stable. It is the intention of Mr. Huggins to take a hunting trip and he will go to his old home In Texas shortly, where he has a ranch of several hundred acres, well stocked with game. Huggins had a successful season during the current year, having saddled twenty-two winners, the winnings of which amounted to the sum of 8,-S35. .
