NOTES OF THE TURF. Ethel Day has been nominated for two Santa Anita features, and C. E. Faut has named Morea for the Derby and four other stakes. R. Williams, tho former race rider, better known as "Tiny." has given up the tiirf and signed a contract for himself and wife with the Williams and Walker company. W. V. Anderson seems to have corralled some good horses for the coming season at Santa Anita. He has nominated Critic. Livius and Edwin H. Fryer to several big events, while Alvln, Royal Ben and Sharpdale are expected to capture several purses. Ed Maginn wound up his labors as racing secretary for the Latonia -Jockey Club Friday evening and left with L. A. Cella for St. Louis. Maginn was a very successful handlcapper during the past meeting and the racing cards offered to the public wcrevKeneisilly good. One of the most striking features of the Houston meeting, liow in progress, is the riding of jockey Butwell. On Friday .last he rode four winners. Including Miss Delaney., the .winner of a ,000 purse jrace. .Yesterday he repeated his .performance of the day before, piloting four more winners, making eight In two days, "Lucky" Baldwin is expecting Llsaro to show better than ever during the coming winter, and has put the handsome black horse in eleven stakes at Santa Anita. Del Cruzador will so in ten and Autumn Days, another two-year-old. Is scheduled to pack colors In five features. Six yearlings, three of them by. Emperor or Norfolk, and the last of that good animals get, are nominated for next years two-year-old events, along with one colt by Cruzados and a colt and a filly by Amlgo.
