MEXICAN RACING PLANS TAKING SHAPE. New York. December 17. Senor Terrazas and Matl Winn, together with several local men. have had several conferences regarding the Mexican racing project. The plans; have ileen perfected to an extent that Mi-. Winn has been chosen to undertake the building and establishment of the tracks. It is the inteiition to conduct the sport along the lines that are followed in France. The wagering will be done by the means of the pari-mutuel machines and a government breeding bureau will be established in connection with the sport. President Diaz is in hearty accord with the venture and the Mexican Jockey Club will be coinjmsed of the best feportsmen of that country and a number of Englisb. French and American gentlemen, who are deeply interested in the welfare of racing. It has been assured that this new jockey club will have the recognition of the English. French and Argentine clubs1, and will model their work after these clubs, including the establishing of a stud book. It is said that Matt Winn will soon leave for Mexico, so as to complete arrangements for Unbuilding of the tracks. It is the intention of the promoters of this venture to build a magnificent race course near the City of Mexico, one that will compare favorably with the best in this country. Several other large cities will be furnished with tracks and it is hoped that within a year a complete circuit will have been formed and racing inaugurated by the new Mexican Jockey Club. News from Tampa, Florida, says that horses continue to arrive for ithe Tampa Bay track meeting which commences February 3. and prospects for a successful season are the brightest. There is some talk of enlarging the present track to a mile circuit, but this work will not be undertaken until after this coming meeting is over. At a meeting of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association and various representatives of bunt clubs, the possibilities for the season of 1909 were considered and" a committee of live was appointed to form plans whereby amateur racing can be best promoted and strengthened.
