SANTA ANITA STANDARD HIGH. Los Angeles. Cal.. December IS. Twenty days of the Santa Anita racing season have passed into history and added much to the rank of the course as one of the leading racing plants In the world. In addition, the first twenty days of racing have been so clean and the horses have performed with such careful regard for form that it only is necessary during the remaining days of the meeting that the judges maintain the standard already set in order "to fully justify every prediction made previous to opening day. The sport has been elevated to a high plane, one it never before attained on the coast, by the results of the season thus far. and Dr. J. S. Gardner, who directs the destinies of the racing association, and his associates are fully justified in their proud -reference to the meeting as the greatest season of racing ever held west of the Mississippi. Horses of highest class have been running regularlv. extremely fast time has been made and the sport has been most excellent. Judge Hamilton has been safeguarding the patrons of the sport in his usual alert and effective manner by curbing evorv appearance of anv lack of form, by strictly enforcing the iockey club rules relating to rough riding and foul tactics and in various other ways, and under his direction the snort has been kept clean and he will have to show a form reversal if it is otherwise during the season.
