JOHN DYMENT S STUD AND STABLE. Barrie. Ont.. April 16. — The Dyment racing sta hie has for many years played a prominent part in Canadian racing affairs, and John Dyment is determined that the Barrie racing establishment shall not lose any of its prestige in the future. For some time past the Dyment stable has spent much money in purchasing two-year-olds and yearlings to develop, but last summer a new idea, that of buying broodmares in foal, was adopted. The start was made with the purchase of ten valuable mates, including Elf, the dam of Broomstick. The list of mares is: Hera. b. in. FJ03. by Hamburg — Tara Blackburn, bv Luke Blackburn. Charmie. ch. m. 1895, by Sir Dixon — Roseville. by Reform. Bella Hamburg, b. m. 190;!. by Hamburg — Cambric, by Hindoo. Baroness Pepper, b. m. 1898. by Kantaka — Noc-turn. by Falsetto. Depends, ch. m. 1902. by The Friar — Device, by Sir Bevys. Miss Morgan, b. in. 1902. by St. Blaise— Middy Morgan, by Exile. Flying Bess. br. in. 1896. by Courtowu — Galena, by Limestone. Elf is just now in Missouri, on a visit to Barney Schreilvers highly successful sire. Sain. She is the dam of four stake winners — Broomstick, fourteen races and 5,225. including the Brighton Handicap, in the American record time of 2:02!: Broom Handle. Elfall and Fairy Dell. Elf is a half-sister to Flying Squadron, a winner and dam of the stake winners. Clarion. Little Buttercup and Keaisarge. a winner for six seasons. Some of the mares were in foal, while others will be bred this spring to Fort Hunter and Tongorder. two well- known retired performers, which are now In stud service at the Barrie farm. The first foal of the season was dropped bv the mare Brogue, by nanover — Patty of Cork. The foal Is by Nasturtium and Is a chestnut colt. Fair Annet, by Hanover, has dropped a chestnut coit foal to the same horse: Lady Black, by Hamburg — Mary Black, has a colt foal to Cesarion: Heria. by Hamburg, has a colt foal to Sain: Flying Bess, by Oourtown — Galena, and Miss Morgan, by St. Blaise — Middv Morgan, are the only other mares to foal as yet. The former has a colt foal to Tongorder. while Miss Morgan has a filly foal to the same horse. Flying Bess is the dam of Fort Garry, one of the Dyment entry in the Kings Plate. Other mares to foal are Baroness Pepper, by Kantaka — Nocturn. in foal to Sir Dixon, and Bella Hamburg, by Hamburg — Cambric, in foal to Fort Hunter. Grandma II.. Depends and Devina will all be bred this spring. For the present the string that makes up the Dyment stable racing strength is not as formidable a lot as has carried the orange and green in seasons past. Stromelaud is the best three-year-old in the stable. He has tilled out since last season and grown up to be a big young horse. Stromelaud was one of tlve best two-year olds on the Canadian circuit last fall and plainly showed that he liked to go a long distance. There is only one two year-old in the stable, naibely.
