ONE OF THE CRACK KENTUCKY STABLES. Lexington. Ky.. April 16. — Jack Baker has here a small but select string for the campaign of 1909. There are seven in it, as follows: Alfred Noble, b. c, 4. by Garry Hermann — Ethd .Pace. Mae Hamilton, ch. f. 4. by St. George or Jack Point — Anna Bain. Jeff Bernstein, b. g. 3. by Orlando — Lake Breeze. Aspirin, br. c. ."., by Masetto — Frogmore. Crystal Maid. lir. f. 3. by Pirate of Penzance — Silk Maid. Haminetrical. b. c. 3. by Hammon — Metrical. Sylvestris. br. f. 2. by Nasturtium — Annul. The only maiden in the party is the two-year old Sylvestris. and from all accounts the season will not lie far advanced before she scores. Sylvestris was bred and is owned by George J. Stoll. Jeff Bernstein is. of course, the star of the stable. He tielongs to trainer Baker and his brother-in-law. John McLaughlin, and they are now glad that M Alvey did not buy the undefeated son o* Orlando when he was priced to him last summer for ,000. Jeff Bernstein wintered well and has grown into a strong, rugged three-year-old. He is not eligible to the Kentucky Derby. He is in the I.atonia Derby and will have some stake engagements in the east. Alfred Noble, a fast horse, is owned bv C. L. Harrison, the New York financier, and Peter Wim-mer. the veteran trainer who has been in California the past winter with a division of John E. Mad dens stable. It has not been decided whether or not this big son of Garry Hermann is to continue in the hands of trainer Baker. Mae Hamilton, now owned by trainer Baker and Ids brother. Bob. was in the stable of J. C. Milam last year. Aspirin is the property of his trainer. Crystal Maid, the game little daughter of the speedy Silk Maid, is owned by R. K. Lewis, who is also her breeder. Haminetrical belongs to J. W. Ferguson, the Bourlion County farmer, who also owns the good mare. Dainty Dame, now in the stable of J. S. Hawkins. Haminetrical wain one race last year. He struck his knee and had to lie turned out. He is training well and shows no signs of lameness.
