BELMONT PARKS GOOD DAY EXTREMELY PLEASING ATTENDANCE REWARDS GIVING EXTRA DAY OF RACING. Fashion Plate Defeats Arasec in a Wonderfull/ Game Drive — McCarter Takes His Race but Finishes Lame. New York. Mav 21.— The extra d.iv of racing at Belmont Park today was a tremendous suceesa in point of attendance, and it is probable that at least one more afternoon will be added to the original schedule. The beautiful summerlike weathef bronchi 4 ut a particularly large Monday crowd, though "wash day" has never been an altogether popub.r one. even in the more successful seasons of the siiort. Originally a promising card overnight, the second, third, fourth and fifth races were partiaiv ruined by withdrawals. The handicap at one mile, however, produced one of the liest ra-es of the year tnim every viewpoint. It was won by the Oneck Stables Fashion Plate, after cue of the longest ami most gruelling finishes ever aaeu on a race course. The three year old was under the whip for the entire length of tlie three furlongs Stretch, responding with electrifying spc-cil to every cut of the whip through the seemingly interminable tourney in a manner that brought the spectators to their fi-et in a fury of enthusiasm. Kddie Dug. 111 rode a wonderful race on the winner and fared equally in the plaudits of the crowd. Racing began with the suicss of Dalmatian a 10 to 1 chance. Notwithstanding that the Ktlielbert colt outlooked his opponents shoes to plates he ra;» practically unbacked, for which his owner, S. C. Ilildreth. was wholly responsible, for lie pooh-poohed the possibility of winning to every inquiring frond before the race.
