THE KINGS PLATE OF QUEBEC. Montreal. One.. May 24. — Entries for the Kings Plate, which will be a feature of the Blue Bonnets spring meeting, to which only Quebec-bred horses are eligible, number ten. This is a fair showing considering that for the past decade the breeding industry of this province has been entirely confined to the ranks of farmer-horsemen. The wonder is thai the interest has been kept up to such a good lioint. Fanners as a rule have not much time to devote to the intricacies of racing, but those on the island of Montreal have enthusiastically stuck and prac tically hent the sport alive during the dull years just preceding the advent of the Montreal Jockey Club. They are certainly coining into their own now. for not only has the club acted most generously toward the Plate race, but the provincial gov-ernmenl has donated S."KH to be divided amongst the breeders of the first lour horses. Following are the conditions of the race and the entries made: The Kings Plate, for three-Vear olds and upward, owned, foaled and raised in the Province of Quebec thai have never won a race on the flat or across country other than a race exclusively for horses bred in the Dominion of Canada, the Kings Plate executed.
