COMMENT ON EASTERN PROSPECTS. New Yoik. May 24. — Commenting on yesterdays extra racing at Belmont Park, the Sun remarks: "If such liberality is possible at the big Queens track, which is the most inaccessible of all the iodtey Club race courses, there is every reason to iM-lieve that there will be four days of racing each week at Gravesenil. Sheepsheail Bay and EniPte City, which can be easily reached at comparatively little expense. It has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the track owners that with expenses materially reduced and free badges sbelished, lacing • an a- conducted iu future without loss, and perhaps at a small profit. The Jockey Club lias always had the interests ot horsemen under consideration and has never lost sight of the plan to provide as much action for them as possible. In spite of the long tri|i to Belmont Park, entailing the expenditure of nearly in railroad fares, admission and imi d.ntals lor a man who needs the recreation, the attendance for the tilst four days of the present meeting has netted more than running expenses. As a result, the turf solons are enseal encouraged over ■the prospects and expect to establish racing on a linn basis before mi 1 -summer arrives."
