SPECULATION LIGHT AT LATONIA. Cincinnati. .. June 15. — According to unofficial figures the volume of speculation at Latonia this summer is not what it has been in years gone by. and it lias been stated that the total amount handled by the books daily does not aggregate as much as the dailv take at the recent Louisville meeting with the pari-mutuels. One reason for this is lhat a tremendous amount of money is bet on many races away from the track. This condition has been forced on some bettors for the reason that it is Impossible to plunge at Latonia without cutting the odds badly, on account of the numerous short bank rolls in the ring. It is estimated that the close of the meeting will find a balance on the right side of the ledger so far as the Latonia Jockey Club is concerned in spite of the unfavorable ciimatic conditions that prevailed throughout t lie first half of the meeting.
