SANCTUS IN A BAD WAY. New York. June 29. — Sanctus was not as lame as Waterspeed after the Beacon Steeplechase at Sheepshead Bay Saturday, but he limped painfully to the scales and it is possible that he may not race again for some time. Edward Peters, who is training the son of St. L.-onards and Harpsichord this season half expected that Sanclns might fall lame. He was all but hopelessly broken down last fall and it required much hard work to get him to the post at all. Sanctus won two good races, and secured an-otlier purse by default at Gravesend. which is about all that coul.l be expected from a steeplechaser with a liowed tendon.
