Claudia, running with blinkers on. showed improvement and is rounding into good form. Uralla ran fairly well. The others were ■arai puor|y and were prohahlv outclassed. Won easily; second and third driving. Carew raced in close pursuit of the leaders for the tirst three furlongs and. securing good footing in the stretch, came away in the last furlong. Jack Baker suffered from interference soon after the start, but moved into a contending position on the tirst turn and was cut oil on the lower turn, then saved ground when tn-ning into the strelch. enabling him to get up for second place. B. T. Shipp showed the most early sp-ed and held on widl in the tinal drive. Jerrymander had no mishaps. Frank Stagg gained fast after p uig a hilf. The latter came fast in the last quarter and suffered from interference. Billv Vertress was in prominent contention from the start and ran a good race. San Primo was well up for three quarters. Oroonoka came fast near the end. Listerine was in dose quarters most of the way. The winner was entered for 1909.sh00; no bid. Hani ran a good race for a tirst time out in a long time, followed Skyo closely to the stretch, where he drew awav and held Joe Rose safe in the final drive. Joe Rose showed Improvement and finished fast and gamely. Skyo displayed the most speed for three-quarters, but tired in the stretch. Warner Griswell had a rough trip and closed a big gap in the stretch. Ladv Vie was forced back on the first turn. Grenade sheared speed, but quit in the last quarter. Alma Boy ran a bad race.
