ALFRED NOBLE WINS EASILY JAMES GAFFNEYS RECENT ACQUISITION TAKES HANDICAP AT SHEEPSHEAD. Araseo Wins Over Turf Course and Harlem Maid Graduates from the Maiden Class Poor Off-Bay Card Attracts Small Attendance. New York. July 9. James E. Gaffneys gigantic racer, Alfred Nome, was the particular turf luminary engaged In todays racing at Sheepshead Bay. This was the second extra day in the schedule at this tract and the card was of the off-day variety and devoid of stake features. The attendance was the smallest of the meeting. Owing to a collision between two race track specials just outside the track gates, the starting time of the first race was delayed fifteen minutes. Sco-villes left leg was so badly bruised from contact with the rail, that he was unable to till his remaining engagements. In the succeeding race Gridiron, another heavilv backed favorite, went down to defeat. It is said that the showing of Dunlops horse in this case was due to a partial breakdown. Arasee, the second-best horse that paraded during the afternoon, was not required to extend himself to beat the slow-going quartet ho met in the long- distance race over the grass track, while Harlem Maid scored an equally easy victory in the closing affair, at a mile, incidentally graduating from the maiden class. The Coney Island Jockey Club announced that the Futurity and Realization for 1911 would each have ,000 of added money.
