RACE TRACK TRAINS IN COLLISION. Now York. July 9. Two race track specials, crowded with race-goers, collided at 1:45 oclock this afternoon near the Sheepshead Bay race track station. The rear car of a Brooklyn Rapid Transit train was partially wrecked, but, excepting for minor cuts and bruises, no one was injured. The Brooklyn Rapid Transit shuttle train which takes race-goers between the Neck Road station and the track was crossing the Long Island railroad tracks which run at right angles to it just as a Long Island Railroad race track special approached. The Ixiig Island train engine struck the rear car of the shuttle and knocked it off the track. The passengers were thrown from their seats. There was a panic among the passengers in the other cars and a wild scramble to get out. The injured included Vervi RIto. M. F. Lanaliey and Mary Haddock, all of Brooklyn. None was injured sufficiently to warrant being sent to the hospital. It is said the wreck was probably due to the fact that the gate at the crossing was up, thus giving the motorman of the shuttle train the idea that the way was clear. The gateman disappeared after the accident.
