In deciding to race six days a week, making sixteen consecutive days, from July 14 to 31. the Empire City Racing Association has set the pace for the other metropolitan tracks. Matt J. Winn, general manager, has always maintained that by keeping the track gates open day In and day out public interest in racing will be held at top notch. Mr. Winn has been supported in this policv-by James Butler to the extent that horsemen will find plenty of action for their stables at Yonkcrs. while patrons of the sport will be provided with a better quality of racing than prevailed at the Westchester track last year. Mr. Butlers loyalty to the Jockey Club and to racing therefore is expected to bear fruit, for all classes of owners have patronized the stakes and there is every indication that tho best horses in training will go to the. barrier. When the Yonkcrs meeting opens next Wednesday horsemen will find that, the track Is one of the fastest in the country. The course has been practically rebuilt and many necessary improvements for the accommodation of the public have been made. The stakes have been scheduled in this manner: July 14. Midsummer Stakes: July 15. Whirl Stakes; July 17. ,000 Empire City Handicap; July 20. Fleetwing Handicap; July 21, Tarrytown Stakes: July 22. Wakefield Stakes: July 24. "Yonkcrs Handicap; July 27, Knickerbocker Handicap: July 2S. Frivolity Stakes: July 29, Arrow Stakes; July 31. Mount Vernon Handicap. On July 10. 19, 23. 25 and 30. the cards will be made up of overnight handicaps and purses. Altogether Mr. Butler offers a total of 1909.sh0,000 in guaranteed stakes and added money for sixteen days.
