HILDRETH HAS RESPECT FOR MASKETTE. New York, July 10. S. C. Hlldrcth declares that lie will not consider Fitz Herbert the undisputed three-year-old champion until he has defeated Maskette. The Missouri turfman holds Maskette In wholesome respect since he saw her take up 120 pounds and canter home an easy winner in the Mermaid, covering one mile and an eighth in 1:52. "Maskette won the Mermaid so easily." Illldreth says, "that there Is no telling how fast she ran run. and that she can pack weight Is proven. She will make Fitz Herbert run faster than has any other horse when they eome together." Then? probably will be no meeting between Fitz Herbert and Maskette until the Saratoga meeting, as neither is iu any closed events preceding the Saratoga Stakes. Both have been nominated for the Champlain Handicap, Merchants and Citizens Handicap, the Delaware, the Huron and the Saranac at Saratoga.
