GOSSIP FROM THE BLUE GRASS REGION. Lexington, Ky.. July 24. "Wink" Williams was here this week and arranged for a stable at the Kentucky Association track, to which he will bring next week the following live thoroughbreds now at bis fathers Stockwood Farm near Spring Station: Fundamental, br. c, .!, by Sorcerer Princess Manic. Temper, b. c, 2, by Knight of the Thistle Constance. Hay colt, yearling half-brother to Waldo, by .flarry Hermann Salama. Bay colt, yearling, by Garry Hermann Tactful sister to Canteen. :-, Chestnut colt, yearling, by Buck" Massle Lady Miles. Ovelando. in the stable of J. L. Beeson, of which John Nichols Is the trainer, has been gelded. Bee-son bought Ovelando from H. G. Bedwell just before he shipped back here from Latonla. Through the operation it is exacted that the disposition of the five-year-old sou of Orlando Sister, by King Alfonso, will improve. Others in this stable are C. A. Leiman. Toby D., Bonnie B.. Slewfoot and Harriet Bowe. It is trainer Nichols intention at present to ship to Windsor. Tom Irvin is also preparing to go to the Canadian track with Meadowgrass and Autumn Uose. Toplaml, the two-year-old son of Orlando and Topsy Over, is now a gelding. He is in the stable of Frank Grosche at the Kentucky Association track. "Copland is a better horse than his racing would indicate," said trainer Urosche yesterday afternoon. "He has won twice and been second twice out of nine starts, but had he not got out of sorts last spring he would surely have given a better account of himself. We will turn him out until next spring." Grosche is making preparations to break fifteen yearlings belonging to W. H. Fizer, J. II. Woodford and Frank ,CIarkson. They are expected at his barn next w"do1. T. P. Hayes spent a couple of days in Lexington this week. He is looking for a farm and has made an offer for a comfortable little place about four miles from this city. Mr. Hayes reports that Sir Catesby. his three-year-old son of Sir Dixon and Algie M.. has been gelded and is now running out at J. S. Barbees Glen Helen Farm. Jerry Taylor has three yearlings in his barn. Among them is a half-brother to the speedy, but ill-fated Irfaneh. Grover Hughes and Al Spottswood have entered into a partnership arrangement under Which Hughes is to train a string of youngsters at the local track.
