Woodlane, outrun for the first half, finished with a great stretch rush and would have beaten the winner in a few more strides. George W. Lebolt was much used in racing with the fast early pacemaker and tired In the final drive. King Commoner finished well. Edgely showed the most speed for five furlongs and tired. King Solomon followed the early pacemaker closely, moved up gamely after entering the homestretch and. finishing fast under punishment, stood off English Esthers rush after disposing of Woolcasta. English Esther showed a smart performance, broke slowly and closed a big gap after going around on the outside. Paul Davis, on the inside all the way, ran well and saved ground on every turn. John Mooney. a good looker, ran well for a first time out In some time and should improve. Ben K. Sleet lacked speed. Short Order was crowded back at the start. Iajaroita raced with Little Osage at a rapid pace for the first half and easily disposed of the latter in the stretch, but won on sufferance. Prince Ahmed came through on the inside when entering the homestretch ;:nd went to the leaders quickly and was under stout restraint all of the last sixteenth. Little Osage was tipicdy, but tired and bore out when entering the homestretch. Smiley Corbett was outrun all the way. Scratched 84347 Emperor William, 102. Gretna Green ran under slight restraint until making the turn out of the backstretch, where he moved up to the leader with a rush and drew away from All Red after sharp contention at the eighth post. All Red made a game effort after entering the homestretch, but tired in the final drive. Tom Ilayward was a close contender until in the last quarter before he tired. Red Hussar went well and hud to be hard ridden in the last quarter to outstay Dunvegan. The latter ran poorly and can do better. Arrow Swift was never prominent. Lady Esther, much the best, met with much Interference in the early running and was finally taken to the out-Kide while rounding the far turn, caught and passed Ozana in the stretch and drew away to win cantering. Ozana was speedy, but was made entirely too much use of for. six furlongs and tired badly in the last imarter. The Wrestler went well, but could never get up and was hard ridden all of the last quarter. Chepontuc showed early speed. Tremargo pulled up lame. The winner was entered for 1909.sh00: no bid.
