Won driving: second and third the same. Mazuma, luckilv and forwardly placed to the stretch, came through fast and made good decisively on the inside. Quantico, outpaced in the early running, closed up steadily and fast on the outside into a close t-icond. Royal Captive, after nearest early pursuit, drew out in the stretch, but tired in the closing drive. J. H. Reed, away badly, trailed for half of the journey and closed a big gap In the stretch. Chief Hayes ran forwardly for six furlongs, then tired and was boring out at the end. Aspirin ran well up throughout, but was never a serious contender. Simple Honours set a stiff pace, outrunning the others decisively for live furlongs, but failed to stay. Fleming was never prominent. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Went to post at 3:04. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won easily; second and third the same. Sir Wooster, suddenly improved, drew out when beginning the second mile and held sway easily to the end. Byzantine, badly outpaced early and under pressure throughout, got up finally into a fast going second and is a typical rating stayer. Frctty Miciial made the running for a mile, showing superior speed and fencing well, but nearly tell at the water jump and resigued the lead and was.a lucky third. Ballacalla was prominent for half of the Journey and retired. Waterway ran in forward pursuit from the start and was close up and menacing when he took off too far and fell at the eighteenth jump. Won driving; second and third the same. Chickasaw, luckily and forwardly placed iu the early running, closed up fast In the stretcli and wore the leader down decisively in a game finish. Amelia Jenks, away badly, closed a big early gap on the extreme outside, but failed to get up in a fast closing effort and probably was best. Shannon outbroke and outpaced the others for five furlongs, but tired finally. Fauntleroy, well up early, was crowded back on the far turn and closed an immense gap at the end. Joe Morris, well up to the stretch on the Inside, failed to stay. Pretend, from a slow start, was outpaced early, but finished well. Dalhousie, never dangerous, can do better, but was hampered early. Won cantering; second easily: third- driving., Olambala, after close pursuit of the pacemaker, drew out after half of the Journey had been traversed and increased ids lead to the end, winning pulling up. Wintergreen, forwardly placed from the start, moved up simultaneously witli the favorite, but was never able to menace him at any stage, was ah easy second and not quite keyed up. Pins and Needles, well up for a mile and a half, finally tired under her weight in the last quarter of a good race. Effendl set the pace on sufferance for half of the journey and then retired precipitately and was not ready. Scratched 84259 Berkeley. 124. . Rio Grande, away slowly, steadily and gradually improved his iositiou while beliig well served by the exhaustive pace, caught the leaders tiring and won going away, but probably was lucky. Dreamer, after forward attendance on the pacemaker under a pull, moved up prematurely on the last turn and succumbed unluckily to Rio Grande at the end. Queen Marguerite set a territic pace for seven furlongs and tired slightly into a game and close up third. Guy Fisher ran well up throughout, but was not quite good enough. The Squire, after nearest and strenuous pursuit early, was squeezed out at tlie half. .came again and loomed up menacingly midway of the stretch, but tired finally. Far West- was outpaced decisively all the way. Lord Baltimore, away poorly on the inside, was excessively urged to get up and quit finally. Adalia, badly outpaced to the stretch, finished with u great rush and is promising.
