NOTES OF THE TURF. Omus. the sire of Olanibala, is now the property of Williams and Radford and is standing at the Adel-bert Stud in Christian County, Kentucky. W. J. Young, Jack Baker. J. S. Ward. T. C. McDowell, J. TV Ireland. C. C. Van Meter and Henderson and Hogan are among the western owners who have been assigned stable accommodations on the Long Island tracks. William Easton, for many years the leading auctioneer of thoroughbreds in this country, is living in a small town adjoining Dublin, in Ireland, and is far from being a well man: in fact, he is so low that his recovery is despaired of. Phil Chinn has not decided what disposition ti. make of his racing stable this fall. Mr. Chinn has some useful campaigners, but lie has been having ill success of late. His horses are at Saratoga and he is undecided whether to ship to Canada or continue on the New York tracks. William Mahoney, who pleads that within the last live years Ed Alvey has outgambled him to the total amount of SS.473. has filed suit at Louisville against the turfman for recovery of that amount. He does not sue under the law which allows the recovery of three times the amount lost. A yearling colt which has attracted considerable attention at Saratoga from experienced horsemen is one bred bv William L.- Powers. The youngster is by Ort Wells out of Adeek. He is a chestnut of line size and substance and possesses the stamp of a real race horse. Mr. Powers has named him Compliment. Martin Nathanson has returned to Chicago from Butte and Anaconda, where he served as presiding judge and racing secretary. He will return to Montana to serve In a similar capacity during two weeks of racing at Helena, the first week of which will Ims in connection with the State Fair, which opens September 22. At the close of the Helena meeting he will again return to Chicago.
