GOSSIP OF CANADIAN CIRCUIT. Montreal, Que.. September 13. With the conclusion of the present week the fall meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club will come to a close. It has" .so far been the best meeting ever held at Blue Bonnets, and it looks as if the management has succeeded in establishing racing on a firm basis in this province. The clubhouse contingent has. been turning- out in great numbers,: and much enthusiasm has been evinced. There are more horses on the ground than were here last fall and the fields have averaged larger by far than those that have Started at any previous meeting. A majority of the horsemen will ship direct from here to Toronto, while some will return to New York or go to Louisville. The best of the lot, how-fever, will take in the Ontario Jockey Clubs meet ing. Secretary Fraser has provided a high-class program for the fall meet at Woodbine; and the club will add no less than 0,000 to the purses during the seven days of racing. It has always been the policy of the Ontario Jockey Club to be liberal With tbe horsemen, but they will be especially " so this fall. The steeplechase horses have been particularly-well taken care of. There will be a jumping race every "day. with liberal purses, and as an extra inducement to the jockeys todo their best 1909.sh0 will lie divided by the association among the first three riders. Many Canadian horsemen who formerly wintered at Hamilton and Toronto have decided to participate in the meeting that will be given at Jacksonville next winter. R. J. Mackenzie. J. II. Doane and Wil- Ham Shields have already asked for stable room at the Moncrief Park course.
