PERRY BELMONT BACK FROM ABROAD. New York. September 13. Perry Belmont, having returned from abroad, was a visitor at Sheepshcad Lay Saturday. Mr. Belmont lost 110 time arter his arrival at the Bay in looking up Sam Hildreth and asking him all about Fitz Herbert. Mr. Belmont owned and raced Etholbcrt. the sire of Fitz Herbert, and bred the latter colt. The news of Fitz Herberts victories In the Suburban Handicap. Lawrence Realization and Advance Stakes reached .Mr. Belmont in France and his breeder has been following his career closely. .Mr. Hildreth told Mr. Belmont that he considered Fitz Herbert about the best horse he ever owned and predicted that Dalmatian, a son of Ethelbert and Ionis. would make the lK-st three-year-old of 1110. Dalmatian is another horse of Perry Belmonts breeding. Ionis being one of his most highly-prized mares. Mr. Belmont has established Ethelbert at his brothers stud in Normandy, near Dieppe. A number of high-class mares of the Belmont stud and some outsiders have been mated with the son of Eothen and Maori. Ethelbert probably will remain in France for the time being to get horses to bear the colors of the brothers Belmont on both sides of the English channel. Mr. Belmont saw a lot of racing in England and France. lie believes that the American two-vear-olds and yearlings that were taken abroad in their early Infancy will make out better than the older horses have. August Belmont has a number of promising young horses in England and his brother believes that they will make their marks next season. It is easily possible that there may be another Norman III. among them. Perry Belmont does not know vet what the three Rock Sand yearlings his brother shipped abroad last June amount to. The youngsters arrived safely at the Belmont training iiuarters, but they, had not been tried out when Mr. Belmont left England.
