WALDO THROUGH WITH RACING FOR 1909. New York. September 17. Waldo Is through with racing for 1909. Charles L. Harrison said at Sheepshead Ray the day the son of Planudes and Salama defeated Dalmatian and Grasniere in the Flatbush that it was improbable he would appear under colors again until next spring, but Raleigh Colston would have sent AAablo along in the Great Eastern Handicap in spite of bis steadying impost of 127 pounds if he could have got jockey Grand to ride. AValdo had suffered twice from bad rides, and Colston was unwilling to start him in the Sreat Eastern unless be could secure tbe services of the jockey who piloted him so skillfully in the Flatbush. Colston believes that AValdo could have taken up bis 127 pounds and defeated the light-footed Livonia if be had started in the Great Eastern with Grand in the saddle. The Planudes colt has quit for the year because be has done his full duty. He was put in training in California last winter ami since Ids arrival in the east he has won the Juvenile, Laureate. Manhanset. Tremont. Flash and Flatbush Stakes and Saratoga Special, under big weight from the beginning. That Waldo will make a first-rate three-year-old. the best perhaps the season of 1910 develops, Colston Is confident. Mr. Harrison also has great faith in the future of bis colt. He thinks well of both Sweep and Dalmatian, but he likes AAahlo better than either the Hen Rnish or the Ethelbert colt, and he does not see why he should not Improve as much as they do. Raleigh Colstons stable was not wholly depleted by the recent Forsythe sale. He lost High Private and Democrat, but lie kept Dorante. Odd Rose. Rerry Maid and a bunch of yearlings, and they will keep hi in busy through the fall and winter.
