Detroit found the going to his liking and, from a slow beginning, went around his opponents with a rush, cut across to the Inside after entering the homestretch and drew away into an easy lead in the last quarter. Hickory Slick, as usual, did not get to going well until they liad gone a half mile, then finished gamely and easily disposed of Amvl. The latter tired under punishment after showing much early speed. Dixie Knight set tlie early pace and, tiring, was eased nn in the stretch. Aylmer closed a gap. The latter was taken wide most of the way, but faltered when called on strongly in the stretch. Whisk Broom was in the worst going ifor the first half and closed a big gap in the last furlong. The latter followed the leaders closely, but lost some ground when entering the homestretch, where be was taken a bit wide, then was wearing King of Mist down at the end.
