PROGRESS ON LATONIA IMPROVEMENTS. Cincinnati, 0., April 24. Latonia track presents a scene of great activity just now with an army of carpenters and painters at work, getting the plant readv for the spring meeting, which is less than two months ofr. The grandstand improvements have almost been completed and the new lioxes are iu place and the paint is being applied. The new automobile shed, which is alniut an eighth of a mile in length, is finished. This was a much needed addition. But the big job is the building of the betting shed up to the grandstand, and then comes another big job. that of putting on the roof. La i tonias betting shed is a solid structure, and the new addition will be equally so and much more 1 comfortable. The low roof made the place almost unbearable on a hot summer day. But with the roof ten feet higher there will be plenty of ventilation. The entire upper end of the shed will be rebuilt and here will be located the ollices of the club, the offices of the pari-inntnel system and room for the twenty or more cashiers who pay olf the winning tickets. The track itself will be resoilcd, and this wilt make the course safer and in time faster. All of the stables that need it will be overhauled and when th job is complete. Latonia "will bo a race course where evervone will be comfortable. It will lie La tonias policy to steadily increase its purses and stakes as the patronage of the public warrants it. Evcrv effort will lie made to make Derby dav the most notable occasion in years. Be sides virtuallv all that are eligible for the Kentucky Derby, the Latonia Derby list embraces if teen additional candidates.
