NOTES OF THE TURF. There is talk of a movement in Virginia to obtain the nassage of legislation providing for a state racing commission similar to that in successful operation in Kentucky. W. J. Thompson, owner of the Gloucester. X. J., track in the davs when racing nourished there, is reported in financial difficulties, the United States courts having appointed a receiver for his property. Edward C. Tavlor. for fifteen years superintendent of Brookdale Farm in New Jersey, where James R. Keene and Harrv Payne Whitney developed many of their well-known racers, was found dead in his lied at the farm yesterday morning. Thomas Rowe, a former owner of race horses, died at Provident Hospital, Chicago, Saturday. He had followed racing in this country from early manhood and was at one time owner of the useful horse Bragg. He is said to have developed Willie Kuapp. A widow survives him. The new racing organization in Utah, which is building a mile track at Lagoon, near Salt Lake City, will be known as the Lagoon Fair and Racing Association. Articles or incorporation have liecn filed showing a capitalization of 00,000. Simon Bamberger is president; Hugh I. Wilson, vice-president and general manager; Ray Egan, treasurer, and J. II. De Vine secretary.
