RESERVATIONS OF STALLS AT BOWIE. Baltimore, Md., October 31. There will be plenty of horses available for the fifteen-day race mcet- ing of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association at Bowie, Md., November 14 to 30 inclusive, which will bring the fall racing season in Maryland to a close. This is demonstrated clearly by the fact that already practically every available stall on the grounds has been reserved by the horsemen. The greater portion of the thoroughbreds that will be seen under colors during the Bowie meeting have been raced in Maryland all during the season and are well known to the public. In addition a number of stables have already reached the track from Canada, where they have been campaigning during the summer and fall. Superintendent Pending, in charge of the track, says that those who have not already obtained their stalls will have to keep their horses at the Benning track, from which a special horse train will be run to Bowie each day. Among those who will ship their stables to Bowie are the following: H. G. Bed well, 31 horses; E. Herz, 17; J. Arthur, 10; J. W. Pangle, 14; Richard O. Miller, 13; P. Sheridan, 13; F. O. At the conclusion of the meeting at Laurel on Wednesday, a number of stables will be shipped direct to Bowie, instead of being sent to Pimlico. So well are the stables at the Bowie course constructed, the climate and other conditions so pleasing to the horsemen as an ideal place for winter quarters, that a number of these stables will remain at the Bowie track throughout the winter months. Several stables remained at the track last winter and the owners were so well pleased and their horses did so well that they have decided to winter at the Southern Maryland course again. The track itself is now at its best, Superintendent Pending having it in the pink of condition. All the improvements have been completed and the installation of a dozen additional mutuel ticket sellers will no doubt meet with the favor of the public. The removing of a row of concrete pillars iu the center of the betting ring is an improvement that will relieve a great deal of congestion. The ring is now said to be one of the largest of any mutuel plant in the country.
