DEVONSHIRES THIRD DAY ATTRACTIVE RACING AND WEATHER CONDITIONS SERVE TO BRING OUT BIG CROWD. Star of Love an Easy Winner of the Main Race of the Day Belle Torre Pays a Rich Dividend in the Mutuels. Windsor, Ont, October 31. The offering for the third day of the second meeting of the Western Racing Association at Devonshire Park, was productive of interesting racing, which brought about Hose finishes in a majority of the races. The track was again fast. The feature race was a handicap which was won by Star of Love in the easiest fashion. The attendance was well up to the -standards of mid-week days at Windsor, about n,0C0 journeying to the course from across the river. Manager II. D. Brown of Oriental Park track at Havana, Cuba, arrived from New Orleans this morning. He came to confer with the horsemen and make final arrangements for the meeting, which opens December 0, and continues up to and including March IS. Manager Brown reports that there have been many improvements to the plant for the coming meeting. The track will be faster than it ever has been, while the improvements will provide greater accommodations for the patrons of racing at Havana. The book for the first seven days of the meeting has been distributed among the horsemen. Magistrate Leggatt, in the police court here today, refused to hear further evidence as to the ownership of the horse Monocaey, as between J. B. Dunn and Mrs. Louise Trovato. He referred the parties involved to the higher courts. The horse is now in possession of the court, pending a decision as to Dunns right to a lien on it. Trainer Dmiii obtained an injunction from the courts to restrain Mra. Trovato from taking the horse until his lien is satisfied. R. E. Watkins was given permission by the stewards to use blinkers on the horse Archery, which ran in his colors. . Alexandra is now engaging outside jockeys and giving his son a rest. Capt. W. J. Press, a well-known Canadian owner, has changed his plans and will now ship to Oriental Park in place of going to New Orleans as was originally intended. William Walker is another who will ship to Havana. The start in the second nice was one of the best of the afternoon. There were several bail actors at the post included in the field and, one of them, a notoriously bad actor, Belle Terre, won the race and paid the liberal price of 05.10 for each ticket. Hanovia, the handicap mare owned by E. T. Colton, was excused by order of the stewards owing to her late arrival at the track.
