EASTERN STABLES IN WINTER QUARTERS. New York, October 31. James McLaughlin has the horses belonging to Frederick Lewisohn in winter quarters at Gravescnd in charge of his elder brother, John, who will look after them until after the former star jockey shall have completed his official duties on the Maryland circuit. Celandria, the only matured member of the string, has been given a letup as far as the remainder of the current season is concerned, but she has finished up as sound and healthy as a yearling, and her trainer ia confident this daughter of Celt and Atlriana will make a good showing in her four-year-old form. The other members of the string are two yearlings; a chestnut filly out of that good race mare. Logis-tilla, and a dark bay colt out of Belle Fleur, by Eon. The Logistilla filly is a handsome, solid-colored rich chestnut of fine size, smoothly and compactly built and graceful in every outline. The colt is a deep, rich bay, with black points and solid colored, but for a small star. He is fully fifteen hands high, and possessed of fine range and substance. Sandy McNanghton appears to have brought the racing activities of his stable to a close for the season of 1910, and all his thoroughbreds are now 111 winter quarters at Gravesend. He still has live of his Von Tromp two-year-olds, of which Riverdale is the most noteworthy. The others are Hudson, Riverside, a big brown two-year-old, sixteen hands high, and a two-year-old filly, all by Von Tromp. He has five good looking yearlings, of which Shandon, b. c, by Irish Lad Wedding Bells, by Ben Brush, and the big brown colt by King James Mary Stuart the latter purchased at the sale of the Oxnard yearlings, and these are the most taking in appearance. It will be remembered that he bought Shandon out of the sale of the Duryea yearlings held at Saratoga. August 1. for .,400; but the big brown cost him ,000 earlier in the summer. The son of King James bears a striking resemblance to his famous sire in general outline and bodily makeup. He is a rich brown, marked with a blaze and one white hind foot. Shandon is a nearly solid bay, being marked only with one white hind foot; but in outline, and general conformation his resemblance to Bramble, to which he traces through both sire and dam, is really striking. McNaughton also has a rangy chestnut filly by Superman Gatien Belle, ho bought out of the Oxnard sale for ,300, and two remarkably good looking yearlings by Jack Atkin. 0. C. Rnsch has shipped Baby Kaseh to Pimlico. He went along with Andrew Rlakeleys shipment from Gravescnd.
