TURF TOPICS INTERESTING NEW YORKERS. New York, November 3. Sol Leichenstein, one of the old school of bookmakers, has undergone an operation for his eyes. One was removed to save the other. Brown was in the city yesterday talking over the prospects of the coming winter meeting in Cuba witli Tom Shaw. Jockey A. Schuttinger has signed a contract to ride for the Wickliffe Stable next year. He had several offers, but decided that the Wickliffe Stable would give him the best opportunity. Matt J. Winn will spend about ten days in New York before going to Juarez. From general conversation among those in a position to know, the eastern racing will start in New York next year the first week In May and close late in September. Thomas Monahan has a colt and filly by his sire Textile, which are promising. "They surely can run," says Jack Goldsborough, who lias them in charge. The stewards of the Jockey Club will hold a meeting this evening to consider the cases of jockeys Carroll Shilling, J. Wilson and trainer F. Schelke. Shilling lias been under the ban since 1912, and Wilson and Reed since 1913. Their applications for reinstatement have been tabled many times since the rulings. Schelke was suspended at Norfolk in the spring of 1913.
