NASH TURNERS CHARGES AT GRAVESEND. New York, November 3. Nash Turner, who not many years ago was one of the leading jockeys in and about New York, and who has been even more than making good abroad in the employ of the American turfman, T. P. Thome, has a remarkably good string of Mr. Thomes thoroughbreds in his care at Gravesend, most of them being yearlings which may be expected to figure in the metropolitan circuit next year. There are nearly a round dozen in the band, and most of them are sons or daughters of Mr. Thomes own fashionable sire, Ma-gellen, which traces in the male line through his sire, Perth, back to the Blacklock strain through War Dance not the American horse of that name, Galliard, Galopin, Vedette and Voltigeur. The one two-year-old in the stable is the big bay colt Dinosaure. by Maximum Dogmatic, by St. Simon. This Is at once a "handsome and useful looking colt, upstanding, well furnished and of good racing conformation. Of the yearlings, one of the most impressive looking is the dark brown colt Lone Pine, by Magellen, from a daughter of Mac-Donald II. and Dogmatic. This colt, a dark brown and solid colored but for a star, is fully 15and hands high, stout, muscular, uplieaded, and covers much ground. He is a big-boned colt with splendid shoulders like all the get of Magellen, deep roomy chest, grand loin and ideal quarters and gaskins. His knees and hocks are close to the ground, although his pasterns are of good length and elastic. Pasadina is a bright chestnut yearling filly, marked with a blaze and white fore feet. She is by Magellen Palette, by Ben Brush. This filly also is large for a yearling at this time of year. She is 15. hands high, rangy and bloodlike, but distinctly feminine in appearance. She lias a small, fine head, a long slender neck, cylindrical barrel of good length, and loin and quarters of ideal finish. Shasta is a good-looking bay colt by Magellen La Source. He is 14 hands high, stout and well finished. Julian is an almost solid colored rich chestnut colt, well balanced and smoothly finished. He is 14 hands high and extremely handsome, though not showing marked individuality in any one point. He is by the fashionable French sire,. Phoenix. Sycamore is a grand-looking bay colt and probably the largest of all. He is by Magellen out of an Amphion mare and lie shows real race-horse quality all over. As lie stands 15 hands 3 inches high and is long and sout, it may be realized that lie gives promise of being a "good big horse," which is generally -conceded to be preferable to a "good little .one." This is a particularly-well finished colt, and despite his rather exceptional size and weight, he does not show even a suggestion of coarseness anywhere. He is marked witli a blaze and white hind feet. Undoubtedly one of the handsomest colts in the number is Sierra, a beautifully-balanced bay colt by Magellen Saba, by Rabelais. This colt is 15JA hands high, of good range and admirable racing conformation. While lie lias the wonderfully rangy and oblique shoulders which Magellen appears to impart to all of his progeny, his general outline is distinctly that which is characteristic of the get of Rabelais. He has the long, clean and muscular neck, the long backward slope of withers, the high, muscular loin and the rangy quarters which are marked features of the get of his distinguished maternal grandsire. Panama is a slashing brown colt, 15V. hands high, strong and rangy, with neat bloodlike finish everywhere. He is by Magellen from the American-bred mare Pronta by Falsetto. He is marked with a blaze and white hind feet. Pietra is a bay colt by Magellen Premier Marche, by Child-wick. He is liberally marked with white, having a blaze and three white feet. This is a well-finished colt, 154 hands high, and well balanced. Fronella is a handsome bay filly, 15 hands high, and gracefully proportioned. She is by Magellen Flores, by Pepper-and-Salt. Abrantis is a bay filly, 14 hands high, and showing admirable racing conformation, but she shipped badly and even now she is low in flesh as a consequence. She is by Magellen. These youngsters were brought over from France last spring by Delbert Reifl. along with the band of yearlings of his own, which he sold by auction at Saratoga in August.
