BEVERWYCK STABLE TO BE INCREASED. New York, November 3. Frank J. Nolan, owner of the Beverwyek Stable, has recently engaged Charles II. Hughes, the developer of Hermis, to manage his racing stable. The real work of management will begin with the racing season of 1917, and the engagement of Mr. Hughes would indicate that Mr. Nolan is contemplating a much more extensive campaign in 1917 than he has followed in any recent year. The engagement of manager Hughes does not men that trainer George Ziegler will be replaced. He will continue to condition the horses and Hughes will only have the management of the strings, which is a most important part of every racing establishment. At this time the stable promises to be particularly strong in the two-year-old division for 1917. These youngsters will be wintered at Churchill Downs, Louisville, with the older horses. There are twenty-three in all in the string and eleven are coining two-year-olds. Already these Nolan yearlings have attracted a deal of attention and a colt by Hessian Sister Jennie is one that the Kentuckians have been talking about all fall. This colt, besides being a youngster of -well-nigh perfect conformation and action, has shown a quarter in better than 23 seconds. Another that has been much admired is a son of Sir John Johnson, which raced so well for Mr. Nolan, and out of Plaster. He has shown an eighth in 11 and a quarter in better than 23 Then there are two others that have been highly tried.
