WORKMEN ARE BUSY IN WINDSOR PLANT. Prepare to Receive One Thousand or More Horses for July and August Meetings. Detroit. Mich., April IS. — While time is breeding entries for the attractive stake fixtures that will he decided under the auspices of the Windsor Jockey t lub during its Jaly and August meetings, workmen an- busy getting the plant in condition to receive 1.800 or more horses that the club confidently predicts will be stabled before the baffle calls the first field to the ]M st July 14. Where improvements in the looks of the plant as well as in the accommodations can be made, attention is betas given and the institution from paddock to betting ring is due for a thorough oerhauling. The work has been going on for the past two weeks, the results of Which are beginning to show on the surface. One of the features of the plant, the garden of flowers just back of the stand in the automobile park, is getting special attention even before the frost is out of the ground and paint is appearing where the ravages of the past winter had a tendency to undo the lahsr of last spring. Not all of the clubs liberal policy is reflected in the increased stakes and handicaps: additional enemy and finances will be lavished with the view of muting the course aad its surrounding structures as pleasing to the publics eye as the added money for the fixtures will appeal to tin- horsemen. Entries to Stakes Jiosc May 14. As the entries dont close until May 14. nearly a whole month away, it is impossible to guess how the big races will fill, but if rich, purses can conspire to induce the horsemen to lend their aid, all records for nominations ought to be excelled next summer. Naturally, the Frontier Han. Heap will draw the place of honor opening day. because without that race as a starter no meeting at Windsor would lie proper. Altogether there are eight races for which nominations must be made, four to be run during the July meeting and the remainder in August. Following the Front ici . in order, is the D. and C. Stakes and after it the Ed-nwold. To balance this trio the club listed the Provincial Selling Stakes, for Dominion-bred horses exclusively. To make matters interesting for Canadian breeders, the club adds ,000 to the nomination and starting fees. The following is the order and value of the July fixtures: Frontier Handicap. 0,000 added. D. and C. Stakes. ,000 added. Eden wold Stakes, ,000 added. Provincial Selling Stakes, ,000 added. Four Stake Events for August Meeting When the horses return for the second meeting in August, one So, 000 handicap, two ,000 handicaps, and a selling stake with .K0 added money, are listed. The Windsor Jockey Club Handicap will fill the place August 15, occupied by the Frontier Handicap on the first day of the July meeting, and the next feature is the George llendrie Memorial Tripuy Handicap. Following the memorial affair is the Canadian Handicap, another inducement to Canadian breeding. Next in order is the Martimas Stakes selling, for two-year-olds, which, like the Provincial, is an addition to last years stake events. Also like the Provincial, it has ,000 in added money. They will be run in this order: Windsor Jockey Club Handicap, ,000 added. George llendrie Memorial. ,000 added. Canadian Handicap. ,000 added. Martimas Selling Stakes, ,000 added.
