CURIOUS INCIDENT IN STEEPLECHASE RACE. A curious ineident is reported from the Colwall Park Steeplechase meeting in England last month. The Barton Court Chase for maidens had only three starters, of which Hill Fox and Cornelius fell and did not complete the course, leaving Cardross to win as his rider pleased. It was then discovered that Cardross was not a maiden and. therefore, not eligible. The race was consequently declared void. Cardross had won a race at Bungay two years ago, and the remarkable coincidence was that on that occasion also be was the only one of three starters to ftah*.
