A long list of names of distinguished persons among the nominators for stakes just closed is published in the Racing Calendar as indicating the strong support accorded the principle of carrying on racing to the highest degree possible under war circumstances. Among them are. besides the Kings representative. Lord Derby. Lorel dAber-non, the Duke of Portlanel. Sir Re.ls-rt Jareline, Lord Jersey, Capt. Gile-s I/iele-r, Major Logos Kiels-lon. lAirel Carnarvon. Lord Loneletnilerry. Major Aste.r, the Re.thsehilils, Leu-el Lonsdale- and many other public men. It is declared that "the flat-racing season promises to be a memorable one in I every way, in spite of the disadvantageous conditions unhappily still prevalent."
