He was Bceeespaaied by Dr. John Free-land and John Roberts of New York. Mr. Whitney will watch the- final prepara ticm of his four Ke ntueky Derby eligible*. Trainer James Howe, in charge of the- Whitney .stable-, also got in today. Coming direct from the Whitney farm in New Jersey anil late in the afternoon, in- paid a visit to Chun-hill Downs to laspett the- stalls that track KuperinteadeBt Tom Young hail prepared lor the Whitney Derby eligible*, which are lue to reach Inn- tomorrow. Trainer lb. we- reiiorte-d that all of his eligible* are in the- best possible condition and. with a eoapte of stiff trials, will be ready for their engage-nie-nl in the Derby. Be-llringer. Rickety and Hwfa are the ones that are coming and Kentucky horsemen are naturally looking forward to their advent with a good deal of interest The horses will come in charge- of jockey Joe- Notter. The- most pretentious work at the- Downs this morning was hat of Corrigan and MeKinneys Derby candidate Aeabade, which traversed the- full Derby route hard he-Id in 2:14. The roan ge-lding will be let down for a speeely trial on Wednesday . Mr. Macomber Expected Thursday. Al Bailors Derby colt Sol Gilsey attracted eon-side-rable attention when he worked a mile ami an eighth in 2:00 flat. R. J. Ne-ustadte-r. well-known California polo player and turf enthusiast and an intimate friend of A. K. Macomber, arrived today from New York, he announe-ing that Mr. Macomber would be here Thursday. Harry Breivogel, assistant to Col. M. J. Winn. got in today from New York to assume his duties at Churchill Downs. Trainer John Whalen and jockey Andy Schuttinger of the Wickliffe stable, went over to Lexington this morning. The stable had three horses entered iu tin- races at that track today. Peter Clark, well known western turf correspondent, arrived and will remain for the Downs meeting. Trainer Jack Goldsborough will have Ticket shipped back to the Downs immediately after the colts race at Lexington Tuesday. The Beverwyek Stables horses now" being raced at Lexington, will return here at the same time. F. J. Nolan, owner of the Beverwyek Stable, is said to be quite sick in Lexington.
