CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Insurance John A. Payne, Cincinnati. Advi. J. S. Tyree has secured first call on jockey M. Anderson for the Maryland fall meetings. C. T. Worthington, owner of Viva America, continues to lie besieged with requests to set a price on the filly. He has determined to wait until the running of the rich Futurity before deciding on her sale. John Sanfords good four-year-old Nassovian has not raced in England this year, because of a hoof ailment, but he is doing well now and lias been entered in both the Ccsarewitcli and Cambridgeshire Handicaps. J. Fitzgerald, the young New Yorker who recently purchased Top o the Wave, contemplates racing his stable at Oriental Park, Cuba, next winter. He will make several additions to his string" before shipping to Havana. James Healey, who brought the promising jumper Mattinata from Canada for A. P. Humhreys, turned the mare over to M. Daly, who will race her through the Maryland meetings. Mr. Humphreys rode his own horses until he was called to the. colors, when he sent all but Mattinata back to his farm in Virginia. The colors of Joe Marrone were seen at the Lexington course for the first time and were carried by Pan Zareta, which he recently acquired from E. T. Colton. She ran a dismal race Mr. Marronii also took over the useful mare Ilanovia. Both will be campaigned this fall on the Kentucky courses. It was also Pan Zaretas first local start and her performance was watched closely. King Alfonso of Spain, is said to be rarely absent from the race track in Madrid. The races begin at 5 p. m., and his majesty and the queen always arrive after the first race.. After talking witli his friends in the grandstand, his majesty walks about the paddock and mixes with his people in the most democratic fashion. Practically all the jockeys and trainers in Spain are American arid English. The kings jockey is Lucien Lyne; the American rider, whose home is at Lexington, Ky.
